What to Do With Acrylic Boxes

Acrylic boxes are good for home decoration and organization. These are multipurpose objects that come in different colors and sizes. Although it has many uses, an acrylic box is often thought of as a casing for memorabilia. But this box can also serve as a permanent decorative feature at home. There are many ways you can use them for decorative purposes.

An acrylic box is commonly seen as a storage box, where several items can be kept. What makes this type of box ideal for storage purposes is its durability and compactness. However, these clear boxes are not your ordinary storage cases. They can be used for special storage purposes. And many people use them to store merchandise.

One advantage of the clear boxes is their lightness, which allows them to be moved easily. No matter how big the acrylic box is, it surely will be lighter than a glass container of the same size.

The transparency of the boxes is another advantage. It is good to organize things and place them in containers that are clear. That way, you can see the items right away without having to open it. There are clear plastic boxes as well as tinted ones, but all of them are made to be transparent.

The clear color of the boxes also makes them cute. Imagine not having to use classic boxes made of wood or opaque plastic, in which you have to open it before knowing its contents.

With clear containers, you probably do not need to color code your boxes for identification, because one look through it and you?ll know exactly which one contains shoes or toiletries.

There is a wide range of stuff that you can store in these boxes. So long as the items fit in them, there should be no issue. You can store anything from toys to neckties. Kids can store their Lego blocks in an acrylic box, too. Girls can store their makeup kit and personal cosmetic items in it. Parents can buy them and teach everyone at home the importance of organizing things.

Acrylic boxes are also good for storing groceries. You can stack in them and put them on the counter or in kitchen cabinets. Storing goods in boxes makes your kitchen more organized. Goods are also safer when they are sealed inside them. They can be safe from insects and moisture.

Storing medicines in clear boxes should be pointed out. With a transparent container, you can easily identify the medicines inside.

Even office files can be stacked in these tidy boxes. Some specifically designed to hold printed documents and office files. If your office has clear plastic boxes, it looks classier. Note that there are also small boxes that can contain pens.

The list of their uses can go on. They are the perfect alternative to expensive and heavy glass boxes. They have a more modern look as compared to old style wooden and plastic containers. There are many sellers online that sell them. Only remember to use these clear boxes when needed.

Information Security: 5 NON-TECHNICAL REASONS O ...

For every data breach that makes the headlines, there are tens to hundreds that go unreported by the media, unreported by companies, or even worse, go unnoticed.

?

The rash of negative publicity around organizations that have experienced data breaches would appear to be a sufficient motivator to whip corporate leaders into bolstering their security programs in order to prevent from being the next major headline. If that is not reason enough, the litany of regulations imposed on certain industries should be enough, shouldn?t it? I mean, who wants to be a victim of a data breach and risk the financial, legal, and reputational risks?

?

In my experience I have found that corporate leaders generally want to operate in a secure manner, however they often make poor or uneducated decisions that contribute to a mediocre security posture.

?

Pick up any article on a recent data breach and you will likely read about the technical reasons the attackers were able to compromise the network. For example, several large retailers have been breached due to attackers compromising an insecure wireless access point in their retail stores that were connected to their payment-processing environment. What you don?t read about is the root cause of the issue. Why was there an insecure access point in the first place?

?

In this article, we will look at 5 non-technical reasons why organizations get breached.

?

1. Not Accepting Security as Part of the Core Business Process

For most organizations, security management functions are on the fringe of the organizations structure or buried deep within IT. To the business, security is often an after-thought and is usually imposed upon the organization in the form of regulations such as PCI, HIPPA and GLBA; even then compliance is spotty at best. Let?s face it, security does not directly contribute to the organizations' bottom line. In fact, on the surface, it may appear to negatively impact the bottom line, increasing the cost of projects, and due to the difficulty to calculate return on investment.

?

So why do we have this disconnect? Simply put, information security has not been brought in from the periphery of the organizational structure. Lets take a look at the not too distant past. Ten to fifteen years ago, IT organizations were in a very similar place in the evolution of ?organizational acceptance?.? Organizational leaders did not understand technology and therefore may not have known how to properly manage or effectively integrate IT into their organization. In many organizations, IT was left to function on it?s own, was not included in strategic planning and initiatives, and may have been considered in some organizations a ?necessary evil.? Needless to say, management support, resources and budgets were difficult to obtain, if not non-existent. Today, in most organizations, IT has been accepted into the core of the business because of the need for organizations to remain competitive and run efficiently. Successful IT organizations are now lead by business thought leaders, not ?techies?.

?

So what?s with all this talk about IT? Isn't this blog about security? The answer is simple: security is today where IT was 10-15 years ago. All the issues IT organizations have faced in the past IS organizations are facing today, such as lack of understanding of security by organizational leader and lack of integration of security into the core business management process. Until organizations accept security as an integral part of the organization, IS organizations will be shoveling against the tide.

2. Misplaced Responsibility

The unfortunate perception is that with the centralizing of security management, security is no longer anyone else?s concern. I dont know why this is; last I knew as an ISO I was still responsible for developing and maintaining a budget, even though we had a CFO and accounting department. In organizations where information security is centralized, but responsibilities are not well defined the business will continue to pursue business initiatives and goals, and wait for security to either intervene (hoping they can pass under the radar) or pass the buck to security to get ?approval? just prior to launch. However, when security does intervene, it is often too late in the project lifecycle, or the business objectives trump any identified risks making security organizations ineffective and appear to be an obstacle. Security needs to be everyone?s concern, and not just pushed on the CISO.

?

3. Lack of Accountability

When it comes to our jobs, we are all held accountable for something. For example, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Our effectiveness, or ineffectiveness, often translates into our performance evaluations which we have a vested interest in remaining gainfully employed and obtaining some sort of financial gain in the form of a pay raise or bonus. My point is, if an employee knows they are being held accountable for something, you can bet they will comply with it; especially if it affects their employment status or future earnings potential. Likewise is true with information security, however, employees are seldom held accountable for their participation in the security of the organization. I suppose security could be categorized under ?Other Duties as Assigned? in an employee?s job description, but really this needs to be spelled out a little clearer.

?

Business and security leadership need to identify the roles and responsibilities of information security for each level of employee in their organization. Those responsibilities should be included on each employee?s job description and translate to those responsibilities to the performance evaluation process. What did we just create by doing this? We created an environment where information security expectations are clearly defined and measured, ultimately leading to a more security conscious culture.

?

4. Conflicts of Interest

Organizations that put the responsibility of security management in the hands of IT are the equivalent of letting the fox guard the hen house. I?m not saying that IT folks are malicious and want their organization to get breached, but they are put in a precarious position in which often conflicting priorities arise and something has to sacrifice. For example, early in my career as an IT Manager I was primarily tasked with getting systems operational by the business so the organization could start to recognize the ROI. The pressure from the business was often overwhelming and project timelines were typically very aggressive. However, I was also unofficially tasked with managing security over the IT infrastructure. When put in the position of getting the system to market or crossing my t?s and dotting my i?s and ensuring any unnecessary risks were identified and mitigated, the later is what often sacrificed. I know for a fact I was not the only one placed in that awkward and unfair situation. Today, as a security consultant, I see it more than I would like to admit.

?

Folks, let your IT people do what they are good at. Involve them in the security process, but don?t put them in the unfair situation of having to choose between delivering a solution on time over ensuring it is secure. Those expectations should be set by a CISO, ISO, Risk Manager, whatever you want to call it. That role should NOT report through IT where there is a potential for conflicting priorities. Just like auditors need to ensure independence, security professionals should not have to be worried about being unfairly influenced by their boss because he/she has a vested interest in delivering a project on time or within budget.

?

5. Lack of Governance

Most mid-sized or larger organizations have an audit committee in place, especially publicly traded companies. This committee is typically made up of board members that have the responsibility to review and ensure the accuracy of the organizations financial statements. Their purpose is not to actually put the financial statements together, but rather ensure that the controls in place to prevent errors or omissions are effective and that management is taking proper measures to continually identify and mitigate risks.

?

So, if we have this process around the risk of misstating financials, why wouldnt we employ a similar process around the risk of security breaches?

?

A governance process makes sure organizational decision makers are ?in the loop? with identified security risks and effectiveness, or lack thereof, of implemented controls. This gives those individuals the opportunity to ask questions, understand risks, question management?s judgment and re prioritize risks. Organizations that lack governance over information security management are omitting an extremely important and powerful responsibility of executive management and, in some cases, the board of directors, to ensure the security of their sensitive information.

Trayvon Martin Case: Judge Considers George Zimmerman's New Bond Request

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A judge will weigh several factors Friday in deciding whether to set bond for the neighborhood watch volunteer who fatally shot unarmed teen Trayvon Martin.

Is George Zimmerman a threat to the community? Is he a flight risk? And maybe most importantly, can Zimmerman persuade the judge he will not be deceptive again?

Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester revoked George Zimmerman's $150,000 bond earlier this month when prosecutors told the judge Zimmerman and his wife misled the court about how much money they had during an April bond hearing.

Prosecutors said a website Zimmerman created for his legal defense had raised $135,000 at the time of his first bond hearing. Zimmerman and his wife did not mention the money then, and Shellie Zimmerman even said the couple had limited resources because she was a student and wasn't working.

Prosecutors also said the couple talked in code during recorded jailhouse conversations about how to transfer the donations to different bank accounts. At one point, George Zimmerman asked how much money they had. She replied "$155." Prosecutors allege that was code for $155,000. Their reference to "Peter Pan" was code for the PayPal system through which the donations were made, prosecutors said.

Shellie Zimmerman has since been charged with perjury. She is out of jail on $1,000 bond and her arraignment is set for July 31.

Legal experts say Zimmerman needs a good explanation to convince the judge to let him out of jail again while he awaits trial.

"If his explanation is really weak ... I think Lester could keep him in jail," said Randy McClean, an Orlando-area defense attorney who is following the case. "If he really comes across as being genuine and has a reasonable explanation, because I don't see how it could be a great explanation, then I think Lester will probably pump up the conditions, up his monetary conditions and let him back on bond."

Working in Zimmerman's favor, the judge has said, is he turned himself in when charges were filed and kept law enforcement informed of his location when he went into hiding because of threats against him and his family. Weighing against him is the seriousness of the charge as well as other brushes with the law, including an arrest for resisting an undercover officer.

Zimmerman has been charged with second-degree murder for fatally shooting 17-year-old Martin on Feb. 26 at a gated apartment community in Sanford. Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty and claims the shooting was self-defense under the state's "stand your ground" law.

Martin's parents and supporters claim the teenager was targeted because he was black and Zimmerman started the confrontation that led to the shooting. Zimmerman's father is white and his mother is Hispanic.

The 44 days between the shooting and Zimmerman's arrest inspired nationwide protests, led to the departure of the Sanford police chief and prompted a U.S. Department of Justice probe.

Zimmerman's attorney has argued in court papers that he is no threat to the public and proved he wasn't a flight risk by returning to jail when his bond was revoked. Attorney Mark O'Mara also argued that the bulk of the more than $200,000 raised by the website has now been turned over to a third-party administrator and Zimmerman has no control over the money.

Putting the money in a trust was smart because "now you can argue that the client does not have direct access to that money to flee the jurisdiction of the court," said Blaine McChesney, an Orlando criminal defense attorney and former prosecutor.

Prosecutors have also argued Zimmerman had a second passport he didn't tell the judge about, but the judge dismissed any worries about it, comparing it to when somebody loses a driver's license, applies for another one and then finds the old license.

McChesney said there is a good chance the judge will deny bond, in part because of the jailhouse recordings about the money transfers.

"It shows a premeditated intent to hide that," McChesney said.

The only witnesses O'Mara has listed are two bail bondsmen. But at the last hearing, Zimmerman surprised many people by taking the stand himself and apologizing to Martin's family.

It may be up to only Zimmerman to re-establish his credibility with the judge, whether he testifies or his lawyer talks for him.

"Credibility is an issue. So O'Mara is going to certainly have to make apologies or Zimmerman will have to make apologies for what happened, and they're going to have to convince the court that he is a good bond risk," Karin Moore, a law professor at Florida A&M University College of Law in Orlando.

Video: Giant Nexus Q robot stalks the halls of Google I/O

Android Central

Last year it was an oversized Android-powered labyrinth, and this year the centerpiece of the Google I/O second-floor display was a giant robotic Google Nexus Q. Attached to a robot arm and adorned with glowing, rhythmic LEDs, the 'bot played music to attendees passing through I/O.

Announced yesterday, the Nexus Q is a miniature Android-powered computer and media center for your living room. It's due out in July, and I/O attendees were given preview units yesterday. We'll be bringing you more on Google's latest foray into home entertainment over the next day, but for now you can find footage of its oversized robotic cousin after the break.

TechnoBuffalo pits the iOS 6 version of Siri against Jelly Bean?s Google Search

TechnoBuffalo pitted Siri on an iPhone 4S running iOS 6 against Google?s new Android 4.1?voice assistant running on a Galaxy Nexus. Jon Rettinger asked the two voice assistants common questions like what?s the weather and who won yesterday?s baseball game.

The two platforms take different approaches to the feature, with Siri asking more questions to confirm what the user wants to do, while Google just takes the user right where they want to go with very little follow-up voice interaction.? Android Jelly Bean?s implementation also was faster with its responses and the voice was less robotic and more pleasing. Overall, TechnoBuffalo concludes that Google?s voice search outperforms Apple?s improved version of Siri.

Android?s new Voice search will debut with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, while the improved version of Siri will land with iOS 6 this fall. You can check out the head-to-head comparison in the YouTube video embedded below.

Some Democrats are skipping national convention

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Some Democrats in tough races are returning their invitations to the Democratic National Convention with a note attached: Thanks, but no thanks.

Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri is the highest-profile Democrat to announce she'll skip the September shindig in Charlotte, N.C. At least 11 Democratic incumbents and front-running challengers will be no-shows, according to a count by The Associated Press.

All hail from conservative-leaning or toss-up states where President Barack Obama, whose speech accepting the party's presidential nomination will be the climax of the three-day convention, could be a drag on down-ballot Democrats.

Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., is out, his campaign said. So are Democratic Reps. Mark Critz of Pennsylvania and Jim Matheson of Utah. In West Virginia, where more than 40 percent of Democratic voters chose an incarcerated felon over Obama in the May primary, Sen. Joe Manchin and Rep. Nick Rahall will both steer clear of Charlotte.

Rep. John Barrow of Georgia, a top target of House Republicans, won't attend, his office confirmed. Neither will former Rep. Charlie Wilson, D-Ohio, who is fighting to reclaim the seat he lost in 2010, and Pam Gulleson, the Democratic nominee for an open House seat in North Dakota.

"You're seeing it in swing states and also in areas that are home to Reagan Democrats, culturally conservative Democrats," said Saul Anuzis, a Republican strategist. "It's smart politics in swing areas for the Democrats to run away, but that also sends a signal to independent voters that maybe Obama isn't such a great idea."

Democrats and their aides insisted the decision has nothing to do with Obama or the economy and everything to do with timing.

"Would you go to North Carolina for a bunch of parties and glad-handing, or would you stay home and work as hard as you know how and convince Missourians they should rehire you?" McCaskill said Tuesday when she announced she wasn't attending the convention.

The convention falls barely two months before Election Day. Unless candidates can raise major cash at the convention, there is little to be gained from leaving their states and districts to hobnob with fellow Democrats. The start of the convention also coincides with Labor Day, when candidates traditionally hold major events back home.

Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's campaign on Wednesday dubbed the reluctant Democrats "defectors" and said they had jumped ship on the president. The Republican National Committee tied the no-shows to Obama's economic record, arguing that Democrats were seeking distance from promises left unkept.

"You know Team Obama has problems when some of Obama's biggest supporters don't want to be seen with the president as he's nominated to run for a second term," said RNC spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski.

The risks of appearing too chummy with the president are all too real for McCaskill, who faces a difficult re-election fight in a state Obama lost in 2008. Crossroads GPS, a conservative outside group founded by Republican political operative Karl Rove, has already aired an attack ad dubbed "Obama-Claire" that uses images of the two Democrats together.

"A Democrat is a Democrat. You can't deny that you're a Democrat, just as the Republicans mostly don't deny that they're Republicans," said former Rep. Martin Frost, D-Texas, who chaired the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in the 1990s.

The committee's current chairman, Rep. Steve Israel, D-N.Y., recently said candidates should make their own decisions about whether or not to attend. But Israel added that it makes complete sense for candidates to stay in their districts ? where they can interact with voters ? rather than leave town a few months before the election.

In the Senate, where Democrats can only lose four seats and still hold their majority if Obama is re-elected, the party's nominees for open seats in Arizona and North Dakota have both said they will campaign at home rather than fly to Charlotte. Both are states Obama lost in 2008.

Democrats aren't the only ones thinking twice about showing up for their party's big party.

Former Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle, a Republican seeking a Senate seat in liberal-leaning Hawaii, said she won't attend the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., in late August. The same holds true for Rep. Denny Rehberg, R-Mont., and former Rep. Heather Wilson, R-N.M. Both are seeking Senate seats.

Google brings increased functionality to voice search with Jelly Bean

Voice Search

Google is showing us a demo of Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and one of the many improvements includes much improved voice search features. We all know how Apple has been promoting Siri to no end and this looks like a serious competitor.

The improved voice search includes functionality from their knowledge graph. For example, the presenter asked who the Prime Minister of Japan was, the phone brought up Wikipedia and read who the Prime Minister is. He asked for pictures of marmosets and it brought up pictures of the funny looking creature. Impressive stuff and we'll look to have a demo of it for you when we can.

Mast cells and the release of 5-HT, may also release histamine which causes vasodilation, swelling and itching and ATP and adenosine are also involved in inflammatory conditions. Substance P and CGRP released from peripheral endings of primary afferents? Ia axon reflex) can also cause mast cells degranulate and release 5-HT. The peptides cause a number of effects, including vasodilation, plasma extravasation and mast cell degranulation and ATP can lead to a direct activation of nociceptors via activation of P2X receptors. Other factors such as nerve growth factor? Thus, NGF is upregulated in the area of ??tissue injury and then binds to its receptor highaffinity, the trkA receptor, the family of tyrosine kinase. Jes?s Mart?nez ?lvarez: No recorte Sra. ministra, invierta en salud infantil, es un gran negocio

');; var debugadcode = ''; document.write(debugadcode); }

As long as you have sat and sun as your treat days and exercise then yes it will help but you have to excercise too. For a healthy diet you need to be eating small to medium meals regularly. 4 or even 5 times a day. Each meal apart from breakfast which should preferably be fibre rich should contain a balanced ammount of carbohydrates for energy from potatoes rice and pasta etc protien from fish chicken occassional red meat is fine soya is good too and plenty of vitamins minerals and antioxidants simple fresh fruit and veg.

You can have a wide range of healthy meals with this from Thai Chinese Italian British Indian etc. Just make sure each meal contains balanced ammounts of these three. This doesnt mean you cant have chocolate or pizzatakeawayetc just save them as very occassional treats. The big secret to keeping a healthy weight and staying healthy is EXCERCISE particularly cardio excercise running swimming cycling etc. Cardio exercise will not only burn calories and reduce your body fat levels but will also improve your resting heart rate and lung function making you healthier.

Heavy weights with short repssets will build your fast twitch muscle fibres and build size power and strength but if you use light to medium weights with lots of repssets you wont build size but you will tone up your muscles body and train muscle endurance. This will obviously make you look healthier and more toned but will also increase your metabolism as your muscles demand more energy so you will burn calories faster. As far as excercise goes you should aim to strike a balance between cardio training and strength training this way you will build good strong and toned muscle but also keep your body fat levels down and increase your heart and lung performance making you much fitter and healthier.

I already drink 82 oz of water everyday and run for 3060 minutes everyday. I still crave for junk food love the taste of food and cant stop myself. Any suggestions.

You will hate me but the best way of doing it is to not eat it for a while and then the cravings will slowly die out should take a couple of weeks but it is worth it. I gave up fizzy drinks chocolate and most other junk food. It took me a month to get it out of my system but now I feel much healthier.

And if nobody else gives up the same thing I did then the funniest one gets the 10 points.

Its kind of weird I lost my keys and my mum would kill me so I made a deal with God that I would give up fizzy drinks for a week if I found them and I did so I decided to give upFizzy DrinksChocolateCakeCrispsAll thinks junk except ice cream i need my ice creamCookiesand music with swearing in it for ever. Should I cut out chocolates sweets and fizzy drinks all togetherWhat foods should I avoidWhat exercises will help me.

Hey there I would suggest cycling it gives your thighs a major workout You can use a proper bike or maybe get an exercise bike or go to the gym And for the stomach doing situps and crunches do help And Ive heard that cardio exercises are also very good. Giving up chocolate and fizzy drinks isnt so easy I just gave them up last week and Im craving them But I will not give in I just keep telling myself that Ill be so much healthier and Ill look better without themI still eat sweets but I think I might give them up too.

5 Ways Every Business Should Use Google+ ... - Duct Tape Marketing

I think Google Hangouts are the most interesting aspect of Google+. To date, however, I don?t see them being used in very creative ways.

Google+ Hangout

A Google Hangout is little more than a glorified video chat and could be accomplished using a variety of technology, but they are unique for two important reasons.

First, the technology exists inside of Google+ so you have a simple interface to involve your connections inside of the platform.

More importantly, Hangouts are connected with YouTube giving you the capability of publicly broadcasting your Hangouts to a broader audience of viewers. In addition, you can record, edit and archive the session right on YouTube for even greater exposure or start a hangout to specifically view and discuss an existing YouTube video.

Below are five ways any business could use Google+ Hangouts to facilitate some powerful customer, internal and market engagement.

Virtual customer meet ups

Something I don?t think we can do enough is bring small groups of customers together just to meet each other, network and swap stories. I?ve long advocated doing this over informal lunches, but there?s no reason you couldn?t do this as a Hangout. Give each person a couple minutes to introduce their business and maybe talk about their greatest current challenge and then let everyone jump in and discuss.

Live expert interviews

You could easily use this technology to conduct live video interviews as a way of creating high level content. You could do this with known experts and authors and such or you could focus on strategic partners or industry leaders. When you combine this with the ability to live broadcast and archive on YouTube, you?ve really got some nice potential. (You might want to employ a Hangouts scheduling tool so you can promote these live events on a regular basis.)

Peer-to-peer roundtables

I?ve been to in person conferences that feature some robust small group roundtables and I find them to be some of the most effective sessions I attend. The idea is to gather a group of customers and prospects and come up with a topic or challenge that is shared by the group. No one leads the discussion, you simply facilitate so it stays on track. You could do this using Hangouts and might find that some of discussion offered by your customers could center around solutions you?ve provided for them, but let that happen naturally.

Preview an event

Imagine if you were holding an all day event with educational sessions provided by a group of industry experts or strategic partners. You could use Hangouts to preview the content or let each speaker give a five minute overview of what participants can expect to gain from their session. You could do this as presale kind of thing for an event or as a way to get people already enrolled even more excited.

Virtual focus group

Getting customer feedback is a great way to find out if you are on track with some aspect of your marketing. You can use Hangouts to test ideas, messages, colors, even user interfaces as one way test and get immediate feedback. I think the ability to see faces is important when conducting research. You?ll probably also want to enable the screen sharing function as part this exercise. (You can share your screen, show specific files, access Google Docs and even add your Slideshare account once you start your Hangout.)

I think the only limit here is one of imagination. Think about any possible way that you and your customers, partners, vender, and mentors could benefit from face to face engagement and think Hangouts as an option to make it happen in a variety of settings.

Obama prepping thousands of lawyers for election

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) ? President Barack Obama's campaign has recruited a legion of lawyers to be on standby for this year's election as legal disputes surrounding the voting process escalate.

Thousands of attorneys and support staffers have agreed to aid in the effort, providing a mass of legal support that appears to be unrivaled by Republicans or precedent. Obama's campaign says it is particularly concerned about the implementation of new voter ID laws across the country, the possibility of anti-fraud activists challenging legitimate voters and the handling of voter registrations in the most competitive states.

Republicans are building their own legal teams for the election. They say they're focused on preventing fraud ? making sure people don't vote unless they're eligible ? rather than turning away qualified voters.

Since the disputed 2000 presidential election, both parties have increasingly concentrated on building legal teams ? including high-priced lawyers who are well-known in political circles ? for the Election Day run-up. The Bush-Gore election demonstrated to both sides the importance of every vote and the fact that the rules for voting and counting might actually determine the outcome. The Florida count in 2000 was decided by just 537 votes and ultimately landed in the Supreme Court.

This year in that state alone, Obama and his Democratic allies are poised to have thousands of lawyers ready for the election and hope to have more than the 5,800 attorneys available four years ago. That figure was nearly twice the 3,200 lawyers the Democrats had at their disposal in 2004.

Romney has been organizing his own legal help for the election. Campaign attorney Ben Ginsberg did not provide numbers but said the campaign has been gratified by the "overwhelming number of attorneys who have volunteered to assist."

"We will have enough lawyers to handle all situations that arise," he said.

The GOP doesn't necessarily need to have a numerical counterweight to Obama's attorneys; the 2000 election showed that experienced, connected lawyers on either side can be effective in court.

Former White House counsel Robert Bauer, who is organizing the Obama campaign's legal deployment, said there is great concern this year because he believes GOP leaders around the county have pursued new laws to impede the right to vote.

"The Republican Party and their allies have mapped out their vote suppression campaign as a response to our success in 2008 with grass-roots organization and successful turnout," Bauer said. "This is their response to defeat: changing the rules of participation so that fewer participate."

Several states with Republican leaders have recently pursued changes that could make voting more difficult, including key states such as Florida and Ohio, despite objections from voting rights groups that believe that the laws could suppress votes from low-income and minority blocs.

Republicans dispute that the laws are political, pointing to cases of election fraud and arguing that measures like those requiring voters to show identification are simply common sense.

Independent from the Romney team, a conservative group is prepping an Election Day team of its own to combat possible fraud.

Catherine Engelbrecht, president and founder of True the Vote, said the organization hopes to train and mobilize up to one million volunteers this year, many of them to serve poll watchers. One of the group's main initiatives is to "aggressively pursue fraud reports."

"Being a poll watcher is an age-old tradition and we're fortunate that so many volunteers are ready and willing to take a day off, learn what they need to know and help out at the polls," Engelbrecht said. True the Vote already has thousands signed up to help and had 500 trained election workers monitoring the Wisconsin recall vote earlier this month.

"They serve as volunteer guardians of the republic, to ensure that procedures at the polls are in keeping with state law," she said.

It's one of the efforts that have Obama's team fretting. The Democrats fear that anti-fraud activity could get out of hand, with vigilante poll watchers targeting and intimidating voters who may not know their rights.

"We will have the strategy and the resources to address the threat and protect the voter," Bauer said.

The Obama-aligned attorneys, most of whom are not election experts by trade, undergo training and have materials to show them how to help at the polls on Election Day.

Charles Lichtman, who is helping advise the effort in Florida this year after leading it in the last two cycles, first created the Florida Democratic Lawyers Council after the 2000 election, vowing that there would never be a repeat of that disputed vote. He contends Democrat Al Gore would have won the presidency over Republican George W. Bush if a similar legal infrastructure had been in place then.

Lichtman's efforts have since been replicated for other states. He said that is vital to provide voter protection.

"My experience has been that, in every election, the other side has taken drastic measures to try to suppress the vote," Lichtman said. The volunteer organization has not been involved in the 2012 legal disputes so far, though they are monitoring the developments.

Four years ago, the teams of lawyers organized by Obama and Republican candidate John McCain in 2008 went largely unused since the election wasn't very close.

But this year may be different given all the changes to voting laws ? and the closeness of the race in recent polling.

The states with the strictest ID laws require voters to show photo identification before casting ballots. If they don't have proper identification or fail to bring it, they can cast a provisional ballot but must later go to meet with state elections administrators to sort things out before the ballot is counted.

Voting groups see a variety of potential problems, such as how voters are informed of the rule changes, how poll workers handle voters who fail to bring IDs and whether voters are provided adequate notice of the steps they need to take after casting an absentee ballot.

About 30 states have some form of an ID law, with varying methods of implementation.

Legal challenges typically start coming in the weeks before the election, but "litigation has started coming sooner and more vociferously" this year, says Edward Foley, an elections law expert with Ohio State University. That includes lawsuits surrounding Florida's plan to purge ineligible voters from the rolls.

Foley said. "We're in an era of increased litigiousness over the voting process."

He said lawsuits after Election Day may occur only if votes in a battleground state are within the "margin of litigation." That would probably be a difference of just hundreds of votes, a result that would be rare.

Poll: 1-in-4 uncommitted now in White House race

WASHINGTON (AP) ? They shrug at President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney. They're in no hurry to decide which one to support in the White House race. And they'll have a big say in determining who wins the White House.

One-quarter of U.S. voters are persuadable, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll, and both Obama and Romney will spend the next four months trying to convince these fickle, hard-to-reach individuals that only he has what it takes to fix an ailing nation.

It's a delicate task. These voters also hate pandering.

"I don't believe in nothing they say," says Carol Barber of Ashland, Ky., among the 27 percent of the electorate that hasn't determined whom to back or that doesn't have a strong preference about a candidate.

Like many uncommitted voters, the 66-year-old Barber isn't really paying attention to politics these days. She's largely focused on her husband, who just had a liver transplant, and the fact that she had to refinance her home to pay much of his health bill. "I just can't concentrate on it now," she says before adding, "If there were somebody running who knows what it's like to struggle, that would be different."

John Robinson, a 49-year-old general contractor from Santa Cruz, Calif., is paying a bit more attention, but is just as turned off by both candidates.

"I'm just bitter about everybody. They just keep talking and wavering," said Robinson, a conservative who backed the GOP nominee in 2008, Arizona Sen. John McCain, but is undecided between Obama and Romney. "There's nothing I can really say that's appealing about either one of them."

To be sure, many of the 1-in-4 voters who today say they are uncommitted will settle on a candidate by Election Day, Nov. 6.

Until then, Obama and Romney will spend huge amounts of time and money trying to win their votes, especially in the most competitive states that tend to swing between Republicans and Democrats each presidential election. Obama and Romney face the same hurdle, winning over wavering voters without alienating core supporters they need to canvass neighborhoods and staff telephone banks this fall to help make sure their backers actually vote.

"It presents an interesting challenge to the campaigns," said Steve McMahon, a founding partner in Purple Strategies, a bipartisan crisis management firm. "Moving to the middle means winning these voters, but it also means creating problems with your base."

Obama has sought to straddle both the left and the middle by announcing policies that expand access to contraception and allow immigrants brought illegally to the United States as children to be exempted from deportation and granted work permits if they applied.

Both issues are popular with his core supporters and centrist voters. The president also is promoting a list of what he says are bipartisan measures that would help homeowners, veterans, teachers and police officers, and he accuses Republicans of causing gridlock by refusing to act on them. It's a pitch intended for independent-minded voters frustrated by inaction in Washington.

Romney has broadened his tea party-infused message from the GOP primary and softened his tone as he looks to attract voters from across the political spectrum.

He abandoned the harsh immigration rhetoric on Thursday when he pledged to address illegal immigration "in a civil but resolute manner" while outlining plans to overhaul the green card system for immigrants with families and end immigration caps for their spouses and minor children. In doing so, he risked inflaming conservatives who make up the base of the Republican Party.

Overall, the poll found that among registered voters, 47 percent say they will vote for the president and 44 percent for Romney, a difference that is not statistically significant.

Those totals include soft support, though, meaning people who lean toward a candidate as well as those who said they could change their minds before November. The poll showed that these persuadable voters are equally apt to lean toward Obama, Romney, or neither, with about one-third of them in each camp.

The survey also showed that these voters are more likely than others to say they distrust both Romney and Obama on the major issues. They are far more likely to think the outcome of the election won't make a big difference on the economy, unemployment, the federal budget deficit or health care.

Party politics and wedge issues have dubious weight with this group. The poll found more independents fall into this category than partisans. The partisans who are persuadable are more likely to be in the ideological middle than either liberal Democrats or conservative Republicans. Seventeen percent of persuadables say they consider themselves supporters of the tea party.

Fifty-two percent of persuadables have incomes below $50,000, compared with 44 percent of all voters.

On other characteristics ? gender, religious preference and race ? they're split similarly to other registered voters.

The Associated Press-GfK Poll was conducted June 14-18, 2012 by GfK Roper Public Affairs and Corporate Communications. It involved landline and cellphone interviews with 1,007 adults nationwide, including 878 registered voters and 228 persuadable voters. Results for the full sample have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4.0 percentage points. For registered voters it is 4.2 points and for persuadable voters it's plus or minus 8.3 points.
